ありがたいことに、数年に渡りあるライブに携わらせていただいており「芸人さんのネタを見たあと、感想をお伝えする」というのをやらせてもらっています。
そこで痛切に感じるのは「舞台にいる自分を客観視できて、こまめな改善できる人ほど、成長速度が早い」ということですね。
お笑いは、独りよがりになると絶対に受けません。
面白いパフォーマンスは、お客さんに何かを与えています。
反対に独りよがりのパフォーマンスは、お客さんの時間とお金を奪う行為といってもいいでしょう。
では「客観性を失う大きな要因」とは何でしょう？
ずばり、それは自己愛。
自己愛は、人間に欠かせないものです。
健全な自己愛は、自己肯定感を高めるために必須といえるでしょう。
しかし肥大した自己愛は、自分を過大評価することにつながります。
「客が悪い」「客が鈍い」などの他責的な発言の根っこには「改善すべきは自分ではなく、客側である」といった考えがあります。
その歪みがどこから生じているかといえば、肥大した自己愛ですね。
もちろん客前で芸をしたいと望む人は、総体的にナルシストですし強い承認欲求を持ちます。
それらはいずれも大きなエネルギーにつながるので、大切です。
ただし「いつでも自分が正しい」「自分の笑いはセンスある人や賢い人にしか伝わらない」と事実を歪曲し続けた人が変容せずに年齢を重ねていくのは、見ていて切ないものがあります。
「良いものを持っているんだから、客観的に自身を省みて地道な改善を続ければ必ず道は開けるのに」と感じています。
お笑いの正解は、舞台の上にあります。
面白くないネタが爆笑をかっさらうことはないですし、質の高いネタがだだスベリすることもありません。
つまり全てに因果があるのです。
今は幸いにして、スマホ一台あれば、自分が出た舞台を動画撮影して、あとで客観的に分析できます。
ご自分のネタを客観的に見たいという方は、ネタだけでなく「他の演者と比べて、自分がどれくらい受けていたか？」を確認するのがおすすめ。
評価とは主観的なものではなく、客観的でなければなりません。
最後に名将・野村克也さんの名言をご紹介いたしましょう。
「人間は自己愛で生きている。誰しも自分がいちばんかわいい。だから、自分に対する評価はどうしても甘くなる」
これはお笑い芸人においても、全く同じことがいえますね。
本当に成長したいと感じている人ほど、謙虚ですし人の話に耳を傾ける姿勢を持っておられます。
ずいぶん偉そうに申し上げましたが「とがりすぎて長い年月を無駄にしてしまった」という過去を持つ人間のひとりとして、今回は自戒をこめ記しました。
